| DESIGN NAME: Silhouette PRIMARY FUNCTION: Typography INSPIRATION: I have been facinated somtimes, by seeing an object covered with veil. The shape apears slightly, subtely. It gets me curiosity and I feel my intension to know it more, to focus on it more. I tried to put this feature on my work as the main mood of this graphic font. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project is a set of 3D-modeled graphic font including alphabets and numbers. As technology of 3D printer has developed, I have get inspired to make 3D-printable graphic font. The character meshes are simple but it makes a lot of differentiation by changing the light and texture setting. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This is 3D graphic font. It is easy to make words and phrases and has a lot of variability of mood by just tweaking the setting of lights ans textures. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in june 2014 in Soeul and is still being developed. This typography has been exhibited twice in Octorber, 2014 and November, 2014 in Soeul. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To make a graphic font in 3D world, I planned modeling process structively. I put meshes of letter backside of plane and I used them as modeling guide. And I used surface modeling method first to make bigger mesh and sculpted detail of its shape. Each letter has been made saparately, therefore, I can put letters to make any words.
