| DESIGN NAME: Slixy PRIMARY FUNCTION: Watch INSPIRATION: I produce and create from the deepest intentions of my heart and that is to design and create whatever form it takes. It took me some time to realise what I wanted but at the end the Slixy watch is the product of this. My main inspiration and influence came from the society, Gfore and Mosssimo Giannulli's coloured golf gloves. I distribute his golf gloves, and I worked closely with them. I wanted to do the same thing but with a fashion watch and aim at the general fashion market. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The uniqueness of the design lies in the actual combination of different features and materials. The watch is water resistant, made of stainless steel, the strap is coloured leather available in 8 colours, the quartz movement is made by a swiss brand Ronda, and glass is sapphire crystal. The combination of these things along with an attractive price along with a simple, minimalistic, yet a traditional watch design makes the result presented here. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It functions like a classic watch with a traditional leather strap. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2015 and completed at the end of December. Prague, Czech Republic. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: I start and end with a pen and paper. From then on, I communicate with engineers or 3d modellers. In the case of the slixy watch, I worked with an engineer who did the necessary technical drawings so it could be produced. The materials and other relevant technology I have discussed with my manufacturer, who was in charge of obtaining these materials. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Watch width/diameter/depth TAGS: watch, fashion, hipster, leather, accessories, teenagers, minimalism, steel, clock RESEARCH ABSTRACT: I started making research what society thinks, and what social media and internet is doing with watches and everything else, and I wanted to give it a try with a traditional watch, and help society, mainly teenagers, to find love in traditional watches. However, pushing the boundaries with different colours that they can combine to different outfits, to achieve playfulness and emit open mindedness. CHALLENGE: I have spent 48 hours solely on visual reasoning of the hands and markers to create what I wanted, as I have eventually removed the seconds hand as I felt that it was cleaner with just two hands. Same with for example the sound of the strap. Inside the strap/watch attachment, it made this quirky sound, which just was not acceptable for me, so I spent 2 weeks and exchanged 30 emails on this subject with my manufacturer, until we have attached it so well, that it now makes no sound at all.
