DESIGN NAME: O3JECT
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Awareness and Advertising Campaign
INSPIRATION: As private free space will become a valuable resource in the future, the rising need to define and design this room is a matter of importance in our present age. The basis, is a handmade, enclosed and conductive cube, which is manufactured by the principle of the Faraday Cage, shielding electrostatic fields in it's inside. The Object could be seen as an iconic image representing a valuable, seemingly utopian room in a continuously digitizing society.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The key visual is arranged in a puristic structure. Its graphic elements are applied in subtle proportions and fixed positions, in order to build up a distinct hierarchy of information. The minimalistic use of typographic styles and graphical effects provides room for the cube to seemingly float above. The monumental placement of the iconic image emphasizes the campaign's key principle: the medium is the message.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The actual object improves its functionality of shielding electrostatic fields by grounding the metal edges through touch.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2013 in Dortmund, Germany at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
A previous version of the physical object has been exhibited at “Dortmunder U” in 2014. The project continued in August 2015 with the design of the chromatic cube. The visualization of the campaign started in December 2015 and was exhibited at the NRW FORUM Düsseldorf in February 2016. The project is to be continued.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The selected materials are based on a balance between form, function and emotion to create a minimalistic seamless and beautiful object. Strong conductive materials are chosen and refined through a process of heating or recombination to bring up a defined and vivid color spectrum.
Metallic effects refine the logo, tagline, and name of the item. They fully unfold their aesthetic via modest incidence of light, relating to the physical object's materials.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research for a visual appearance could be seen as a rhizomatic task to equalize history and the contemporary, both philosophically and visually.
As there is to emphasize Malewitsch and the Suprematism aside artist of the Fluxus movement and a comprehensive awareness of a new media aesthetic.
