| DESIGN NAME: O.boat PRIMARY FUNCTION: Teakettle INSPIRATION: Origami is one of the most interesting hand arts ever, once we read an article about origami that was written by an origami professor, he said we can use origami for everything because it is everywhere and that was the sparkle of this idea. If origami is everywhere and we can use it for everything why not in the kitchen!We started working on a new teapot and kettle that is a concept of an origami boat. We also used colors that mostly represent the ocean and the sea to let you feel its content. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This design is an elegant, beautiful teakettle which is a concept lies in the fusion of origami boats and a teapot and is a true pleasure to partake from.This design is divided in two parts that match together vertically.The underneath part is where we pour water and the top part is where we make tea.This design is made of clear tempered soda-lime glass and metal, it also has a little grid shield which we pour dry tea in it and then it is put into the top part and it has caoutchouc handholds. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: O.boat is a teakettle that is formed based on origami art . The basic thought was to design kitchenware that represents origami shapes and lines . Nowadays designers are trying to present new looks and aspects for almost everything around , this product was a quest in order to change the taste and look of a kitchenware that is mostly used , teakettle ! PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2016 in Iran and finished in February 2016 . |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This design is made of three different materials: clear tempered soda-lime glass which is stabile and resistant to strikes,metal that shape the lines of the boat and holds the structure,caoutchouc that shapes the handholds and it is designed like it is no different from the metal that is used and you can see the whole concept and think the handholds are also made of metal.The caoutchouc handholds are for preventing hands to burn. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The width of this teakettle is 300 mm , its depth is 130 mm and its height is 200 mm . TAGS: teapot, teakettle, origami, boat, kitchenware, tea, ship RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We did a major research on origami and all the shapes that could be made and we studied about how we can mix the origami world with our world and make it practical . CHALLENGE: The challenge was to combine origami and kitchenware like teakettle and make it work . The hardest part was to shape something that shows our point of view and the aspects that were important for designers.
