PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Plant Container

INSPIRATION:
A parasit plant is unable to produce the necessary nutrients for their own survival, so it gets them from other plants. Instead of going to the ground, its roots connect to the internal system of a host (another plant) and sucks their vital fluids. Parasita is an abstract representation of this interaction. Inspired in Orchids.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Parasita is a plant container conformed by two different objects that interact with each other, making a plant pot really easy to maintain because the cement maintain the soil wet. The graphic is an abstract representation of the idea while interacting with the water generates an optic illusion, reinforcing the concept.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Parásita is mean to be an experience while a soil and seeds comes in the package, the user have to fill Parásita(Cement piece) with the soil, add the seeds and located inside the host(Glass Piece). Slowly fill it with water till the changes in the graphic composition. The idea is to have a real functional object which could fit any environment, add a touch of creativity and contemporary art. Interaction is mean to be by observing from different angles while a graphic effect is generated.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
This idea started with my friend Jimena Rodriguez, she is really into plants and nature, one day talking she inspired me to design a plant pot, but it couldn't be a regular plant pot. Research was made with the idea of getting enough information to generate a strong concept and let the concept guide me using it by inspiration. I loved the idea Parasite plant´s, the interaction of different things, living things. It amazed me that some behavior could be seen somehow in our society.

CHALLENGE:
The sketching part because making the concept real is creating something from zero, you have a line to follow somehow that is the idea but not using design tendencies you feel like floating in space with no handle near to hold to.
