DESIGN NAME: PWPW 2016 calendar
PRIMARY FUNCTION: 12 Pages Wall Calendar
INSPIRATION: Graphic design is used to present the main PWPW products in an original way. By using proper printing techniques and various treatment procedures we can show the uniqueness of security paper and products manufactured in the factory and security features used in them: postal stamps, credit cards with a chip, security paper protected with a watermark, IT systems and solutions (servers), identity cards, banknotes (steel engraving), latent, recto-verso, micro lettering, passports, etc.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: PWPW (Polish Security Printing Works) Calendar is a company promotion tool that shows its exceptional products in an original and unusual way. A wall calendar consists of 12 pages, it is made on a variety of decorative papers printed and ornamented in various techniques also duplex printing. Two of the pages have been made on a unique paper from the original PWPW production of security paper protected with a watermark.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Tell the audience about protected documents and their security features in an original and unexpected way. Draw attention to intriguing solutions applied to secure documents and banknotes. Show that documents designs are works of applied art and their security features have elements of graphics in them, such as, e.g., banknote designs (steel engraving), secure protected prints designs (watermark), designs of guilloches used as background in different documents

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Meeting the expectations of a client who has received an unconventional calendar, which introduces him to products that actually exist and to their security features. Reproducing PWPW products using various printing techniques combined with properly matched ornamented paper, taking account of the texture, paper density, and coating.
CHALLENGE: The calendar uses, inter alia, original paper with a watermark used to manufacture security and special types of paper (banknotes, documents) that is why graphic design had to cover all of it with printing, not leaving any area unprinted as it could be used by forgers but, at the same time, it needed to preserve its exceptional beauty. To utilise all the graphic printing we needed to mix printing techniques, such as: offset, Hot foil stamping, die cutting, silk screen printing, blind embossing, lamination, perforation, spot varnish
