| DESIGN NAME: Extend. Extending Residential Apartment PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Space Interior Design INSPIRATION: The home owner left his hometown to come to city when he was young. This is his first apartment bought in the city, and it's his home where he started his own family. The design concept is trying to express that a person has decided to start his family in this home and plans to pass it on to his children when they grow up. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Home is a place where generations and memories are continuously extended, one after another. The tree is a metaphor implying vital extension of the home. The seed of love is planted, sprouted and grown into trunk. The trunk abstractly grows into the home as it signifies life is extended from outside to inner space. The shape of the atrium flooring is formed, which becomes the contours of the home. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It is a two story residential space PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was completed in November 2013 in Taipei Taiwan FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: - SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: - TAGS: residential space, apartment design, living space design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: The home's original design had 2 stairs, however I found it unnecessary because it's taking up too much living space. So I redesigned the flow and had been able to use 1 stairs access 2nd floor space. NAME: SID Story PROFILE: Client lived oversea for quite sometime and recently moved back to Taiwan. She requested that the design to have many transparency and open space because she has two young children. Sometime her parents will come to visit her for a period of time as well so guest room is very important. |
