| DESIGN NAME: The headstream PRIMARY FUNCTION: Poster INSPIRATION: My hometown is near Yangtse River of china. The people around me admire the sky and the birds. That is our faith. I want to know what is this faith come from since I was very young. And after I visited the sanxingdui archaeological site, I think I find out the answer. Especially when I saw the bronze birds model there, I strongly believe that is where my culture comes from. So I want to create a poster to show my culture and use bronze bird model as the main part of it. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Nowadays, a lot of people from all over the world become more and more interested in Chinese culture. The part of Chinese culture that people well know is created by the people lived near the huanghe river five thousand years ago. However, almost at the same time, the people lived near the yangtse river had also begun to create great culture as well. That is what my poster going to show-sanxingdui which is another sign of Chinese culture and many people have no ideal what is it. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Phase I: Design Proposal After I make sure that I want to make a poster to show others more things about Sanxingdui, I did a lot of research about this archaeological site in order to have a better understanding. I decided which are the material I am going to use, and I prepare some writing to explain about the Sanxingdui culture as well. Phase II: Design & Development I start to work on the material I have chosen like how to fix and arrange those logon and picture nicely in order to produce a good poster. Phase III: Post Editing When I roughly finish my designing of the poster. I need go and ask some suggestion in my detail of designing from my teacher. And after that I will use these suggestions to make my poster a better product. Phase IV: Delivery I will delivery of final copy in week 10. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in October 12 in Singapore and finished in December 11 in Singapore. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: During the designing of the poster, I draw out the main part of the poster that is a bronze bird. At that time, people use the bronze bird to show the power and wealth that we can tell form the imperial crown on the bird’s head. However, I am not going to use the total the same appearance and I am going to change it, and add some my understanding in it. I am doing that in order to make it more active and real. Sanhaijing is the oldest book Chinese people drew and introduces mythical animals they imaged. I am going to use the same drawing style with the sanhaijing. After I had done my hand drawing, I will scan it in computer and try to develop my drawing. The software I will use is illustrator. Firstly, I will use paintbrush draw out the lines follow the photocopy. After that I will draw out the details. Finally, I will color it with Chinese monochromes. And use dark and orange as my main color. In my poster, I am going to mix in some more element of Chinese culture which well known by many people. For example, I will use the brush in Photoshop and explaining my poster with Chinese writing around the bronze bird. I will also take a signet on the corner of picture with Chinese words" Sanxingdui". Finally, I will use Photoshop to change the tone of the whole poster. I believe it will make the poster more cultural and make it like a Chinese painting. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 3508x4961 TAGS: the headstream,yiqi chen,Chinese culture,yangtse river,Sanxingdui RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Because Sanxingdui is the sign of the beginning of the Yangtse River, so when I am doing the research, I have to be very careful and try to find out which are the materials that can represent that age better. I would use something from nowadays as well because it will make people have a better understanding about why it is the beginning of the Yangtse River’s culture. CHALLENGE: I choose to make a poster to talk Sanxindui, which is the sign of beginning of Chinese culture, but very few people know. I met a lot of difficult when I am doing this project. Firstly, I have to mix the old material created by people five thousands ago with the things well know by people in order to make most of people accepted my design. So I chose a bronze bird mix with sun and calligraphy. I also need to do a lot of research about the history, as the Sanxindui is too old and difficult to find the correct information.
