At Otto Kessler, we keep a close eye on the international fashion shows and top designers trends, which stimulates our own creativity and filters through into the gloves we bring to you. There is more fashion between the fingertips and cuff of a glove than people commonly imagine.
We strive for much more than just keeping your fingers warm: we want to give you a fashionable accessory that will accompany you in your daily life.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The fingers of these Otto Kessler gloves have a timeless, classic appeal. The hem line has a very special look: the leather has got two faces: the top is black and the under part is beige. The material is cut in delicate stripes, which are twisted to the hem, to show the beige side. The twist in the stripes gives it a feel of a minimalistic braiding. The beige tone used at the hem is also used for the topstich between the fingers, to establish a connection between the fingertips and hem.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
No less then fifteen pairs of hands have invested their utmost care, expert handling and well-trained eyes, as much as their love to detail, to create a quality product which will match your highest expectations with regards to comfort and design.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
one season (12 month)
The design Studio is located in Berlin, Germany.
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Before any pair of gloves leaves our house more than twenty different production-steps have been applied.
Starting with the control and careful selection of each skin, to stretching, matching and cutting the supple leathers by hand;
followed by the application of ornaments and metal accessories, then the sewing of the tiny stitches on the pencil-slim piqué-machine, uniting a minimum of twenty single pieces to a pair of gloves, inserting the lining and closing of the glove at the hem. Then onto the dressing of the glove, which brings it into shape before final quality control inspects each pair.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
gloves, leather, accessoire, luxury, craftsmanship, design
We wanted to create an accessoire, that is timeless with a special something.
The classic glove shape should be kept. The special design should be reduced to material and technics.
There is more fashion between the fingertips and cuff of a glove than people commonly imagine – Milan, Paris, London and New York are all reflected in the backs of your Otto Kessler gloves.
Keeping the minimalistic shape, but adding a touch to it was the hardest part.
