| DESIGN NAME: Tango Small Shoulder Bag PRIMARY FUNCTION: Handbag INSPIRATION: Inspired by nature, perfected by craftsmanship. All GRETCHEN bags are influenced by the beauty of nature and architecture. Inspired by the structures of a leaf, the designer created the profile lines underneath the leather. The sides of the bag are made out of soft calf leather. Therefore, it offers a lot of space in the inside. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Mid-sized handbag for both daytime and evening. Special about this bag are its two Options how to wear it: wear the strap single for long, cross-body wearing wear the strap doubled, so it's short, with the bag directly under the arm. What also makes it unique are the hand-applied profiling details underneath the leather. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The bag is not only elegant, it is also practical. It has 2 wearing options and offers a lot of space. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The process duration was one season (6 month). The design studio is located in Berlin, Germany. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Soft waxed calf skin leather made for an incredibly pleasant touch, intentionally contrasting with the more constructed main body made from so-called glazed leather. Elaborate hand-applied profiling details underneath the leather of the plum-shaped main body add dimension and richness to the clean shape. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 8 pairs of hands created this shoulderbag in 240 minutes of craftsmanship from 18 hand-cut pieces and with over 2310 stitches Height : 24 cm (9") Width : 27 cm (10") Depth : 14 cm (5") Handle Range : 30 (11") cm-60 (22") cm Finest calf leather TAGS: clutch, bag, leather, high-quality, black, luxury, accessory, travel, handbag RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The artisan process Cut to measure profile structures are applied onto a support material. This base structure is then covered with leather. With a blunt knife, the so called folding leg, each profile structure is retraced by hand, one by one. CHALLENGE: We wanted to create a bag, which is not only elegant but also practical, with the special something and a high quality standard.
