| DESIGN NAME: Seat Belt for Pregnant Woman PRIMARY FUNCTION: Seat Belt for Pregnant Woman INSPIRATION: An existing seatbelt is not designed to consider abdominal size of pregnant women. Since their abdominal size is greater than people in general, more pressure is exerted on their abdomen in case of a car accident which can be more painful and even critical for the life of a fetus. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: In order to resolve this potential problem, this seatbelt is grooved which gives more flexibility than the existing seatbelt, so it fits securely and decentralizes the pressure exerting to the abdomen of pregnant women. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: When this seatbelt is not in use, the groove of the belt is constricted, rolled back in to a buckle, and sharp part of the plate is circled to the opposite site to close, so the belt can be stored firmly. Abutton on the buckle and opposite edge of the buckle are designed to become luminous with light, so a driver can find the seat belt and buckle up easily even in the dark environment. When the buckle is up, all light turns off. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2016 in KOREA and finished in April 2020 in KOREA. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This practical feature of the product makes it able to use not only for the pregnant women but also for people with various belt size. When this seatbelt is not in use, the groove of the belt is constricted, rolled back in to a buckle, and sharp part of the plate is circled to the opposite site to close, so the belt can be stored firmly. When the buckle is up, all light turns off. Composition materials for the seatbelt are polyester and synthetic fiber, so it is solid and stable. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Abutton on the buckle and opposite edge of the buckle are designed to become luminous with light, so a driver can find the seat belt and buckle up easily even in the dark environment.
