DESIGN NAME:
Post-it Colleague Care Kit

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Media Kit

INSPIRATION:
Office politics is a common phenomenon in any work environment. Regardless of profession and industry, office politics is relatable and more often than note, detestable, unlike you are the type who loves work drama! The idea was to capture the essence of office politics and transform it into a tongue-in-cheek comical way to take the negativity out of things. This campaign embraces the work environment to remind ourselves that we can make another colleague's day brighter, instead of being that drama-seeker who thrives on politics. Fusing an engagement angle which calls for an individual to send positive vibes through the #Postitforwardsg idealogy, it gels relationships and practicality with a reusable tote bag that comes in handy for documents, lunches and others. A motivated office promotes creativity and productivity. The label was designed to look like an apparel brand tag allowing the complete set to exude a wearable look.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Post-it Colleague Care Kit was designed with a dose of humour where the usual laundry icons were redesigned in the office politic context i.e "Do not Bitch". The entire campaign seeks to create a happier and fun workplace where they send motivation quotes to fellow colleagues who needs a perk up after a long day at work or when there is an unexpected situation at work. There are instructions on how to motivate your colleagues, a Post-it photo frame is inserted to take selfies and welfies.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Receivers of the Post-it Colleague Care Kit are entertained with the idea of spreading positive cheer forward to a fellow colleague. Taking the first step to making someone's day better helps to put smiles on others faces including your own. With the Post-it Notes, an individual can easily write sweet notes that stick well on any surface of the colleague's work station. Think: table, computer screen, cup etc. Recipients or sender can snap and post this happy note onto Instagram and hashtag #postitforwardsg to see all the positive vibes that's been spreading!

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project started in October 2014 and the kit design was completed in Jan 2015. Production was completed in early February. And the entire campaign kicked off mid February to spread the cheer to our media friends, as well as channel distributors and roadshow giveaways.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:

CHALLENGE:
The challenge was how we could transform the office politics idea into a positive yet tongue-in-cheek manner which everyone can relate to easily. It had to make the audience giggle and the idea had to stick. There had to be an instruction manual on how colleagues could participate in the entire Post-it Forward campaign. Thus the solution was to do a double sided tote that people could carry around. The kit had to be reusable thus the cotton tote bag was conceptualised and fit in nicely with the office workers as a tote bag comes in handy to carry documents or their laptops. The other challenge was how we could expand the Colleague Care idea. But since the tote is an apparel, the clothes tag idea sticks. And the crafting of symbols was to resemble real "washing instructions" symbols to make it realistic and relatable. With copy that was to the point, the design and text went hand-in-hand and the concept was well-received by the client and recipients.

NAME:
3M Post-it Brand

PROFILE:
The Post-it® Note was invented as a solution without a problem: Dr. Spencer Silver developed a unique, repositionable adhesive, but the 3M scientist didn't know what to do with his discovery. Then, six years later, a colleague of Dr. Silver, Art Fry, remembered the light adhesive when he was daydreaming about a bookmark that would stay put in his church hymnal. The rest is history. Today, Post-it® Brand boasts more than 4,000 unique products, and has become one of the most well-known and beloved brands in the world.
