| DESIGN NAME: Labyrinth Table PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table INSPIRATION: Wanted to challenge my craftmanship and create a extra story into something pretty basic. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With a labyrinth built inside of a wellknown obejct it gives an extra dimension to a wellknown object like a table. And was created to generate nostalgic feelings in peoples mind, and with that encourage them to go explore and interact with each other. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: With handles underneath you PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Idea came to life in New York October 2013. Began sketching and the built up february 2014. Was completed january 2015. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Fine Arts and Art Installation Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: To make the table strong and static enough to last for decades, the table was built up with a steel base and was then after covered up with 5 mm all over. A nice thing about having steel inside is that the handles can stick to all the surfaces of the table. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: W: 1600 mm. D: 1000 mm. H: 760 mm. 8 mm. Diamont glass shhet on top. TAGS: Labyrinth table encourage people to ineteract with each other RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: To cut the pieces of maple wood in 45 degress and attach them to the steel base. NAME: Benjamin Nordsmark PROFILE: Benjamin Nordsmark is a Furniture creater, Artist and Cabinetmaker and by combining his education and skills with his creative mind he makes sculptural furnitures in limited editions and a variation of different art pieces. By education he is Cabinetmaker and has a Masters of Fine Art from the Royal Danish Academy of Art from 2011. He had decided upon these two educations from the age of 14. By working in a variety of different places such as the Design Academy, Technical school and workshops in different parts of the world, he has built up a solid body of craftmanship that seems to show no limit to his mind. Most of his inspiration is found in other areas beside design: especially art, architecture and different cultures that all have a great influence on his creations. His approach of making production pieces into unique items with a high sense of quality and strong eye for details, has changed remarkably over time. |
