| DESIGN NAME: Heart Plate PRIMARY FUNCTION: Health Awareness INSPIRATION: More than 80 million Americans are obese. That’s about one-quarter of the population of the United States. In 2013 not one state reported an obesity level of less than 20 percent.Obesity can shorten our lives, restrict the lifestyles we enjoy and even weaken our economy as a whole. It’s common knowledge that obesity can cause dangerously elevated blood pressure leading to heart disease and strokes. Obesity kills 500,000 Americans every year. The simple truth is that for most people, the cause of obesity is overeating and that overeating is the result of poor portion control. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A proven, effective way to cut down portions to a healthy size is to have a plate that allows you to serve only the correct portion size and reminds the consumer that he is dong the right thing. The Heart Plate is a dish made of safe polyethylene or ceramic materials designed to help you cut down the amount of food that you load onto your plate. Heart Plate comes in a variety of sizes, styles and colors. There is a Heart Plate for every need and age group. You can match up any Heart Plate to the ones you are already using, one-at-a time or in a family pack set.
