| DESIGN NAME: Sky PRIMARY FUNCTION: Surface Downlight INSPIRATION: Feel like levitating. A light fixture appearing that is floating. A slim and light disc a few centimeters from the ceiling. That is the impossible design concept achieved by Sky. Sky is a surface luminary that creates a visual effect which makes the luminary appear to be suspended at 5 centimeters from the ceiling, making this light fitting attractive and different. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sky has a minimal beauty and its textured finish stands out in lower ceilings. Furthermore, its great luminous flux and its great performance enables this luminary to light up areas with high ceilings such as pavilions, airports, shopping centers... At last, a surface luminary with the most attractive design, capable of offering a very high luminous flux. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Sky is a light fitting very suitable to light up placed in very high ceilings as to do so will provide this kind of projects with a great performance without compromising aesthetical design and beauty. However, its attractive design enables Sky to be also a perfect option to light up any kind of interior designs concerned about the minimalist conception of habitats. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Built in injection of special aluminum alloy, with a great thermal transmission, in order to ensure the best heat sinking of the light source and the keeping of LED's optimal thermal range of work and life span. Diffuser manufactured in Poly Methyl Methacrylate (PMMA) with special agent for an optimal light distribution, with antiglare and maximal light transmission. Painted in white matt textured. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Diameter: 300mm. Total high: 87mm. Disc High: 46mm. CRI (Color rendering index): >80. Dimmable options: Push, 1-10V, DALI. Color Temperature: 3000K or 4000K. Luminous flux: From 2200Lm to 5150Lm. Light output Ratio: From 78%. Watt: From 20W to 46W (220V-240V and 50/60Hz). Ceiling and Wall application. TAGS: ceiling recessed, downlight, light fitting, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We research the aesthetic trends in interior design main stakeholders, such as decorating magazines, journals in design, etc. Our goal was to get the aesthetic trends and transform them into design values to apply to our new luminaire. Our methodology was to observing market and competitors, systematization of findings, and interpretation of the results to synthesize the design guidelines. Also, we sought the integration of design and electronics for a perfect combination of functionality, aesthetics and performance. CHALLENGE: Our main concern designing this light fitting was to join performance and aesthetic beauty in one new concept of surface downlight. Also, we aim to provide the fixture with a very remarkable luminous flux to make it able to light up from very high ceilings. Less power consumption, luminous flux, heat dissipation ability, aesthetic beauty and minimal design, have been our achievements.
