DESIGN NAME: Jae Murphy Photography
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Corporate Identity
INSPIRATION: I was inspired by light and shadow play that defines the objects in negative space and make uncommon view of the commonplace.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Logo mark has initials J, M, the camera and tripod incorporated in the negative space. The name was formed in three steps on which the photographer needs to climb in order to take a shot. By this its achieved that logo acts as one scene. Through Corporate Identity design, the negative space idea from the logo is further developed. It adds a new dimension to every item and makes the slogan, An Uncommon View of the Commonplace, stand true.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Jae Murphy specializes in portrait photography. She wanted a simple, powerful and creative logo that will properly reflect the uniqueness of her photos.
The negative space is used because it makes viewers curious and once they experience that Aha moment, they instantly like it and memorize it. Since Jae Murphy often photographs children, the big stairs, formed by name, and low placed camera suggest that kids are welcome.

Redtory Art&Design Factory, Guangzhou, China

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: The goal was to create something different, eye-catchy and unusual to make the client stand up against competition and to represent her slogan the best way. Creating a negative space logo is hard enough. Embedding initials J, M, camera and tripod together while keeping it simple and natural, was the biggest challenge.
