PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Reception Stage

INSPIRATION:
Medieval Roman Architecture

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The concept of the stage is to recreate the roman ambience with the Baroque style architectural monument Fontana di Trevi which brings roman effect to the main event.The uniqueness of the project lies in the roman entry gate followed by an avenue with 75 roman pillars on each side leading to the main stage. The roofs of sittings tables are decorated with steel tiaras and fresh orchids. The main stage depicts the pond giving a feel of standing on water.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The whole preparation took 20 days whereas it took 2 days for the erection at site. The project took place at Nagpur, India in January 2012.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Key RM used is plywood, rubber moulding and fibre. Backdrop is modular in form. The floor is with acrylic, aqua colour sheet. Steel scaffolding supports backdrop. Rubber is used for corinthian pillars with "capitals". Papalo arms at the top is made of fibre. Round table sittings centred in between the columns crowned with steel tiara and draped orchids.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The stage was at the height of 750mm where as the fountain was at the height of 3000mm from the ground level. Backdrop dimensions: 16700mm x 10600mm x 9144mm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The main objective is to give feel of actual roman atmosphere with all the architectural elements along with structures from the entrance till the stage. Secondary research methodology was used for research work. Internet came in handy to get high resolution pictures of Fontana di Trevi. Various architectural journals helped in enlightening on the methodology to create a bridge: old look with the mixed media (materials) and technology. Fibre and plywood are the most significant materials used.
