Interview with Arundhati Subodh Sathe at Sunday 13th of April 2014

FS: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?
AS: Depicting Roman Architecture was the basic idea behind the design.

FS: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?
AS: Actual replication of Fontana di Trevi was the intention.

FS: What are your future plans for this award winning design?
AS: i would like to improve more if again i got the chance design the set.

FS: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?
AS: I took 10 days to finalise this concept.

FS: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?
AS: It was client's need to have roman architectural monument as a theme. Earlier we suggested colosseum as a main structure, but later on the focus was shifted to fontana di trevi.

FS: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?
AS: No plans in future.

FS: What made you design this particular type of work?
AS: The desire to do in limited time span.

FS: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?
AS: No.

FS: Who is the target customer for his design?
AS: NA

FS: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?
AS: Grandness

FS: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?
AS: Its a replica of the existing structure. so we depict the same.

FS: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?
AS: Auto cad, 3d max

FS: What is the most unique aspect of your design?
AS: Detailing

FS: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?
AS: we took help of artisan and skilled labour, they were not aware of, what the style is?

FS: What is the role of technology in this particular design?
AS: Not specific

FS: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?
AS: We did research on the style. how the columns were designed and what are the elements which make the design so unique. Also we did lots of research on material.

FS: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?
AS: nil

FS: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?
AS: Many a times a heard of model made in small scale of existing famous buildings but never seen it. Making this huge scene nearly as it is encourage me to show case in international platform.

FS: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?
AS: Practical experience is the only way to learn many things, so did i.

FS: Any other things you would like to cover that have not been covered in these questions?
AS: No.
