DESIGN NAME: Hong Kong DeerHill Bay
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential
INSPIRATION: Besides integrating artistry with functionality, home design is especially important to be human-oriented and to enrich people’s living experiences.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: An irregular false ceiling with light troughs in Living and Dining Areas is the main element in the design, highlighting the travel experiences and revealing the personality of the client. It extends from the ceiling and goes down to the wall, taking the advantage of rare high floor height in Hong Kong, while a ‘shadow’ is outlined on the floor with the use of a different material from other areas. To create a characterized visual element in the room and keep the rest simple, white and beige colors spread over the room, with black and grey furnishes in simple lines and proportions.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The home design is highlighting the travel experiences and revealing the personality of the client.A darker tone is used to create a comfortable and relaxing environment to rest.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project is located in Hong Kong and finished in Aug 2011.

CHALLENGE: The master bedroom is combined by two consecutive bedrooms and the layout is limited to a curvy architectural structure of window in a rather long and narrow space. A king-size bed placed in the middle of the room divides the study area at one end from the walk-in closet which is near the curvy window and has two passages from bedsides.
