| DESIGN NAME: Misoohi Resort PRIMARY FUNCTION: Hotel INSPIRATION: Misoohi is nestled at the foot of the world-renowned Mount Huang where tourism stands as the primary source of income. The primary objective of this design is to embrace conflict and coexistence, deliberately creating a stark contrast with the local Huizhou architectural style and challenging visitors' stereotypes of traditional Huizhou buildings. It aims to become a popular travel destination and establish a new benchmark product for the local government. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The architectural exterior employs expansive white as the dominant hue combined with bold sculptural forms and classical arrayed arch elements to enhance visual distinctiveness. It artfully integrates the iconic white tones of Huizhou-style architecture with the multicultural influences of coastal regions. When viewed from a distance the structure resembles a white castle descending amidst the mountain forests - strikingly novel yet harmoniously contextualized forming an arresting scenic landmark. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: From a distance the building stands out with its unique and easily recognizable features. As guests enter the project site they are awestruck by the towering white exterior and a sense of joy naturally arises as they arrive at the hotel for their stay. The venue is extremely photogenic offering guests the opportunity to capture precious memories in photographs. There is no specific routine it's an experience that can only be truly appreciated in person. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: the renovation and construction began in July 2023 and the final acceptance was completed on January 15, 2024. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: During the building renovation process a sturdy steel structure was used as support for the foundation. Prefabricated concrete panels were fixed to the surface layer followed by the application of exterior waterproof paint, effectively addressing the construction challenges posed by the large-scale curved design. This ensured that the overall design could be reproduced as closely as possible to 100% with a seamless 50-meter-long exterior that features a single division in the middle for styling purposes. By integrating aesthetics with construction simplicity the uniqueness of the style was guaranteed. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Covering a site area of 7 mu (approx. 4667㎡) with a total floor area of 4500㎡ this destination blends distinctive architecture and immersive leisure amenities to offer visitors an idyllic retreat from urban clamor. Facilities include an al fresco coffee zone infinity pool tea-and-literature pavilion and versatile spaces for tourism photography film shoots or proposal ceremonies. The exterior-interior connective corridors maintain stylistic coherence establishing the site as a social media photography hotspot renowned for its contextual yet avant-garde appeal. TAGS: Resort hotel Building facade Architectural design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The Misoohi Hotel has redefined modern destination tourism by connecting more tourists to the world-famous Huangshan Mountain through its unique design, making it a must-visit destination for their travels. The designer focused on establishing a dialogue between traditional Huizhou architectural culture and modern aesthetic forms allowing for conflict and coexistence to occur. This has not only established a new image for the tourist city but also made a positive contribution to the development of the local cultural tourism industry. CHALLENGE: In the design phase our architects masterfully amalgamated Huizhou cultural motifs with the diverse cultural tapestry of China's coastal cities. By incorporating neo-classical arched elements they not only rendered a homage to tradition but also elevated the project's overall allure and uniqueness.
