| DESIGN NAME: Art of The A9 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Cover Design INSPIRATION: The aim is to create something distinctive in a world where similarity often prevails, enabling individuals to discover their unique colors and originality while reminding them of their inherent uniqueness. Designs with a soul are intended—simple yet vibrant and joyful creations, personalized rather than narrated. The ultimate purpose is to touch people's hearts, souls, and consciousness. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This design was created to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Bang & Olufsen A9 Speaker. Inspiration is primarily drawn from simplicity, colors, shapes, and the beauty of nature, including its patterns and textures. A particular focus is placed on expressing the perception of nature through abstract forms. However, observations and influences are blended and transformed, allowing them to be reimagined through a unique perspective. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: An image is created that transcends the walls, transporting us into nature. As the world evolves and we increasingly spend time in cities and homes, the idea was to bring us back to that natural world through both the unique sounds of music and the visual impact of art. The intention was to capture the essence of the wave, the sun, the green, and the natural flow of life within geometric forms. Given that the audience possesses a 'designer spirit,' is inspired by design, and has a heightened awareness of the environment and nature, it is aimed to convey the sounds, colors, and scents of nature through this work. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project commenced in September 2022 on a global scale, with its completion in December of the same year. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Pen and paper take priority in the creative process, which led to starting the Art of A9 cover with hand-drawn sketches. An experimental approach was taken by cutting out shapes and positioning them on the surface of the speaker. Afterward, the design was converted to vector format and redrawn using Illustrator. Given the circular surface of the speaker, precise adjustments were required to ensure proper alignment. Following the provided guidelines, the design was finalized digitally and shared with the B&O team. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Vectorel pattern drawings can adjust to any size. TAGS: Pattern Drawings, Geometric Shapes, illustration RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Music transports me to another world, where endless dreams are created, allowing me to feel free, independent, and truly original. Drawing and designing evoke the same emotions, nourishing my creativity. The two practices reinforce and support each other, giving me the sensation of being lost in the abstract, surrounded by colors in another dimension—an incredibly fulfilling experience. CHALLENGE: In this special project, it was a challenge to create a beautiful, stylish, and sculptural design while incorporating various light and color tones across different architectural styles—each more elegant than the last, appealing to diverse tastes. The goal was to design something that people could gaze at repeatedly without feeling boredom, bringing them joy. I began the project with great excitement and focus, and all the difficulties I encountered were soon forgotten once the design was completed. NAME: Deniz Erciyas PROFILE: I am a passionate and dynamic designer who seeks innovation in my designs, is questioning, and strives to raise awareness. I was a child when I got lost in colors and paints. My drawings that started on the walls were spreading to every corner of the house. I was born in İzmir / Turkey in 1983. I graduated from Yeditepe University Graphic Design and Graphic Design Master’s Degree. In the following years, I attended various illustration classes, drawing courses and certificate programs at Central Saint Martins – University of the Arts London. I had personalization projects with global companies such as Hewlett Packard, Bang&Olufsen, AkzoNobel, Vans, Cupra, Caffe Nero, Dyo and Bimas Bikes. In addition, I am involved in social responsibilty projects with some brands. |
