DESIGN NAME: Coastal
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Private Villa
INSPIRATION: This design is inspired by a deep appreciation for the fluidity of nature, the organic beauty of the environment, and the desire to create a home that feels like a natural extension of its surroundings. The vision was to move away from rigid, conventional architecture and instead embrace soft, sculptural forms that mimic the curves of landscapes, ocean waves, and sand dunes. The goal was to craft a space that feels both luxurious and grounded, modern yet timeless.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This architectural villa redefines modern living with its sculptural, flowing rooflines and seamless fusion of luxury and nature. It seamlessly integrates with nature through lush tropical landscaping and biophilic elements like greenery on terraces. Many modern homes incorporate landscaping as an afterthought, but here, lush greenery is an integral part of the design, cascading from terraces and blending the house into its surroundings.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The key feature is its smooth, flowing shape, which softens the structure and makes it feel organic rather than rigid. The curved roofline and open balconies create a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in February 2024 in Brisbane, Australia. Currently, the project is under construction.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: This design proves that buildings can be beautiful yet functional, luxurious yet sustainable, innovative yet deeply human-centered. Through thoughtful research and a deep understanding of how space impacts people, this project sets a new standard for what homes can be, not just places to live, but environments that enhance well-being, inspire creativity, and coexist harmoniously with nature.
CHALLENGE: There was a need to balance high-end, luxurious aesthetics with eco-friendly, sustainable design principles - a common dilemma in modern architecture. Luxury often implies energy-intensive materials and designs, while sustainability demands resource efficiency and minimal environmental impact.
