INSPIRATION: Inspired by the cultural significance of the Year of the Snake, symbolizing wisdom, transformation, and renewal, this project draws deeply from the designer’s Chinese heritage. The logo, featuring the designer’s father’s hand drawn Chinese calligraphy, connects tradition with modernity. Influenced by traditional art, mythology, and the graceful movement of serpents, extensive research into serpentine motifs and dynamic geometry shaped the visual language, blending cultural symbolism with contemporary design.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This project seamlessly integrates across digital and physical mediums, blending the designer’s Chinese cultural heritage with modern design. The modular design, anchored by the logo featuring the designer’s father’s hand-drawn Chinese calligraphy, adapts easily for animations, print, and interactive platforms. Dynamic serpentine forms flow gracefully in motion graphics, creating an engaging visual narrative, while the scalable layered design ensures precision, clarity, and impact across formats.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The Serpent Of Dreams project was developed over the course of 2024, with creative research and initial concepts originating in China and the final design execution and refinement completed in California. The project features the designer’s father’s hand drawn Chinese calligraphy, adding authenticity and cultural depth. This cross cultural approach enriched the project’s visual and symbolic impact, blending traditional inspirations with contemporary design practices.
