| DESIGN NAME: The Legacy of the Art Tree PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wall-Hanging Artwork INSPIRATION: Many historically significant buildings in Taiwan are guarded by a tree. Its roots dig deep into the soil, stabilizing the foundation, loyally entrenched in the earth, witnessing the connection between the building and human emotional values. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The classical poetic essence of French luxury jewelry, with its enduring heritage, deeply immerses one in an atmosphere of elegant grace that spans centuries. The pursuit of profound wisdom not only embodies the eternal vitality of the tree but also presents its splendor through the inlaying of thirty sizes of sparkling rhinestones. The 24K gold leaf gilding adds a layer of treasure-like radiance to the trunk, resembling a poetic dialogue. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: With natural light streaming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, the diamond tree resembles a master craftsman, distilling all its essence into the scene. It reflects different emotional atmospheres, saturating every corner in the interplay of light and shadow, and this brilliance guides the viewer to experience the infinite value of architectural craftsmanship. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in Oct. 2023, Taipei, and was completed in Jun. 2024, with installation at the Yongji construction site in Xinyi District. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The tree's crown is crafted using ancient diamond pavé techniques, the trunk made with century-old Japanese gold leaf craftsmanship, and the outer frame employs hidden woodworking joinery. The materials include white rhinestones, green rhinestones, resin, electroplating, 24K gold leaf, stainless steel, anodized titanium, Taiwanese cypress(Hinoki), and dyes. The eternal nature of diamonds is used to express the tree's inner energy and the limitless accumulation of its spirit. CHALLENGE: The creative language of contemporary jewelry involves using various sizes gemstones, applied through different setting techniques, covering the surface in a rich display of jewelry design. This work challenges the intricacies of diamond surface sizes ranging from 90mm to 0.8mm, utilizing a total of 30 different sizes. Additionally, the piece features 201 leaves in four distinct sizes.
