| DESIGN NAME: Magical Creatures PRIMARY FUNCTION: AI-Generated Video Art INSPIRATION: Imagine a variety of creatures inhabiting both microcosmic and macrocosmic worlds. This work showcases whimsical and endearing colorful "friends," born from the artists’ concepts and ideas, rich imagination, expressive language, and the powerful creativity of multiple AI software. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As members of the vast array of creatures in the universe, humans must learn to understand and appreciate both the microscopic and macroscopic worlds. We share our natural resources and coexist peacefully with other visible and invisible beings, our neighbors and friends. Leveraging the rich imagination and boundless creativity, Magical Creatures reveals fascinating and familiar yet non-virtual creatures around us, inspiring humanity to continuously explore our environment and the space we inhabit. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This AI-generated video art could be exhibited on LED panels, TV monitors, and projections in immersive installations. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in Macao and The United States in 2024 and completed in 2024. The work has been exhibited in Shenzhen Art Museum in China, Contemporary Art Museum of Centre for Arts and Design at the University of Macau, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg in Germany, City Center in Hangzhou and OCAT in Shenzhen, China. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We started by generating the magical creatures in Adobe Firefly, then refining them through ongoing update of instructions to the AI software. Next, we used Photoshop for color adjustments and composition. We then created the animated video using Runway, followed by adding captivating visual effects in TouchDesigner. Finally, we adopted underwater sound effects, resulting in a complete AI-generated video art. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This design could be presented in various sizes and settings, such as video projection, LED monitor, interactive installation, prints, 3D IP sculptures, etc. TAGS: AI-generated design, digital video art, immersive interactive installation, IP, Print RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Humans, part of the universe’s diverse creatures, must appreciate both microscopic and macroscopic worlds. We share resources and coexist peacefully with visible and invisible beings. Using AI’s assistance and creativity, Magical Creatures unveils fascinating, familiar entities, inspiring us to explore our environment and space. CHALLENGE: This work blend traditional art and design techniques and concepts with digital and AI-generated elements to achieve imaginative creatures beyond what could be done previously by hand.
