DESIGN NAME: Al Mar Suites
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Logo
INSPIRATION: The inspiration of this project was the sand and the calm waves of Praia do Forte, beach where the hotel is build. The modernity and simplicity of the hotel's architecture and decoration were also combined in the creation of the project.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Based on the concept of this sustainable boutique hotel in Brazil, the creation of its logo embraisses its main characteristics. The color refers to the beach, and also the feeling of comfort and simplicity of the inn. Combining the straight and simplified modern lines of the inn's architecture with the sea wave, makes the hotel's logo playful and youthful but still serious and contemporary. The main objective is to convey the feeling of finding new experiences and a high standard of quality.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The logo has a simple shape and is easy to apply. It can be used in countless ways and easily understood by the public.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in january 2023 in Curitiba, for the hotel in Praia do Forte. The hotel opened in December 2023.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For this logo, everything started with a hand drawing, to understand the typography style created and whether the combination of straight lines would work with the wave design. After that, the design was vectorized and all the alignment and framing was adjusted so that the logo was completely symmetrical.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: For this project, the research needed to be done online and with interviews with the hotel partners. It was also necessary to work with an analysis of the architectural project in progress, as well as items from the initial inspiration panel to create a unified communication throughout the structure. The creation was made with the active participation of the partners who were in Bahia. The main objective was to create a logo that was clean, with a modern look and yet with the beach atmosphere of the region.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge of this project was to create something that made sense within the context of the hotel’s location without actually knowing the city in which it is built. Being 2400 km away from the hotel, advanced research into the city and regional peculiarities was of great importance in uniting the hotel’s concept with its beach of origin.
