| DESIGN NAME: Villa Torres PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: A house ahead of its time. Breaking paradigms. Timeless design with a brutalist concept, using materials like exposed concrete, steel, and glass. An imposing facade impacting its surroundings with the quality and beauty of its design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Timeless design with a more brutalist vision in the conception of the facade. The challenge was to create a 1000m² project on a lot of only 400m², needing to build vertically to have sea views from the main areas, including the pool. As it is very close to the sea, we decided to use low-maintenance materials such as exposed concrete, stainless steel, corten steel, and glass on the exterior. The rooftop pool is the highlight, with plenty of glass showcasing the sea view. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The house has 4 floors where the basement and ground floor serve as a garage, service area, and dependencies. On the second floor are the bedrooms, including the master bedroom with a sea view. The third floor houses the living room, balcony, and gourmet area. On the rooftop, there is the spectacular glass pool and the outdoor gourmet area next to the deck and external fireplace. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2017 and was completed in 2018, with construction taking place from 2018 to 2020. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We developed the design along with the engineering part. The house has a suspended pool with many glass panels and large open spaces, which required a very complex structural project to be calculated. As the structural part is integrated into the facade elements, we used the technique of loose reinforcement in metal and wooden forms to shape and create the impression of slats in the concrete.
