| DESIGN NAME: Casa Jabuticaba PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: The project draws inspiration from the serenity of tranquil days, evoking memories of carefree childhood. In today's fast-paced world, it aims to transport inhabitants to a mythical past through a garden oasis. An expansive entrance gate offers glimpses of nature, creating a sanctuary to escape the relentless pace of modern life. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Located in the city of São José dos Campos in São Paulo with 1400 m2 of built-up area and 2400 m2 of land area, a wide program was designed and implemented to house a young couple with two kids. Casa Jabuticaba was organized into a two-story volume with horizontal proportions. The house combines the contemporary use of metal, stone, glass, and slatted wood panels used around the upper volume of the building with the purpose of sheltering the intimate areas, such as the bedrooms, from direct sunlight. A permeable skin made of wooden slats filters the sun and plays with the light and shade inside the house. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The family's needs were met and at the same time we generated spaces that created affective memories transmitting unique sensations. It is a house that achieves several important characteristics for everyday life: spacious, bright, comfortable and practical. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2019 and finished in 2022. Located in the city of São José dos Campos in São Paulo with 1400 m2 of built-up area and 2400 m2 of land area. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The implantation of the house on the land was thought out both in winter and in summer. Having a great incidence of sunlight on winter days during the day we reduce the use of heaters and energy. In order to minimize the need for air conditioning, it was essential to guarantee cross-ventilation in the social area. To do this, we made the living room ceiling four meters tall for increased circulation and added a cover over the terrace to protect the house from direct sun. The lush garden also creates a cooling effect.
