| DESIGN NAME: Marilyn PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewelry INSPIRATION: Marilyn makes us think of how we treat people who live by publicity and being a star. Where is the line between personal life and show business or politics. Marilyns life is well stored in photographs. Through them it s possible to see her as a human being who faces changes and winds of life. All though her hair might be done perfect she is still the same wild, loving and caring person as she was in the beginning of her career. She deserves to be admired as herself. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Marilyn jewelry set is flowy and showy. It expresses curls and wind by the beach. These matt surfaced jewelries are made from recycled non-plated 925 silver at Sonkajarvi, Finland. The Marilyn jewelry series includes necklace bracelet and earrings. The jewelry set suites events and fine occasions. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Marilyn necklace can be manufactured in different lengths to fit the customer. The necklace pieces are attached in to each other in balanced and movement securing points. The jewelry set is made to follow the users movements. It is made to be noticeable by the audience but not the user itself. The bracelet follows the shape of a wrist and bone structure to feel stable and fit. Marilyn earrings are light and they curve by the face when worn. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in January 2020 and finished in October 2023 in Sonkajarvi, Finland. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Marilyn Jewelry set is made from recycled 925 silver. It's made by lost was casting and traditional goldsmiths techniques. It has needle matt surface. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Necklace 500 mm x 29 mm x 40 mm Bracelet 68 mm x 68 mm x 35 mm Earrings 20 mm x 30 mm x 10 mm and stud TAGS: mairlyn, jewelry, marilyn monroe, silver jewelry, finnish, design, necklace, earrings, bracelet, matt, surface RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In Marilyn jewelry project the main fields of study were in luxury feeling flowy design that expresses the actress Marilyn Monroes character and makes the jewelry user to feel itself confident and beautiful when appearing in events for dress code Formal or Semi-formal. It was also important to reach the feeling of steady and stable weightless wearability of big and showy jewelry. This was achieved with good balance experiments and several fittings with different body types. CHALLENGE: The challenge of this design project was to create light and luxurious feeling into a celebrity inspired jewelry. It was to make the jewelry user feel the perfection and child like joy in design. It was also important to express the movement and bring Marilyn's personality in to the jewelry.
