DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Zodiac Rabbit

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Postage Stamp

INSPIRATION:
Inspired by a famous ancient Chinese myth, Chang'e flew to the moon. Chang'e is a fairy who flies to the moon with a rabbit. This is a fictional story, but it conveys the desire of Chinese ancestors to explore the moon thousands of years ago. In traditional Chinese culture, rabbits symbolize vigor and vitality. The full moon is a symbol of harmony and togetherness. Clouds surround the moon, as do humanity's joint efforts in space and lunar exploration.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Since its establishment in 1951, the United Nations Post Office has issued more than 1,000 stamps. Since 2010, the United Nations Postal Administration has issued zodiac stamps with the theme of "Chinese Lunar New Year". 2023 is the Chinese Lunar New Year - Year of the Rabbit, and this stamp is the Year of the Rabbit stamp of the United Nations Zodiac, which goes beyond the boundaries of philately and draws attention to major world issues.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
In the field of communication, the primary function of stamps is to indicate that postage has been paid. They serve a social role in propaganda and art within the realm of thought, as well as in philately as collectible items. The square format of stamps often reflects a country's history, mythology, art, culture, customs, and other characteristics, giving them collectible value in addition to their postal function.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project began in June 2022, was completed in September 2022 in Shenzhen, China, and will be exhibited in November 2022

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
In the picture, we adopted the most Chinese characteristics of the painting technique - 'meticulous brush'. 'Gongbi painting' not only represents the excellent traditional Chinese culture, but also has a strong resonance with the Chinese people. And let all the nations of the world know the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Combined with the painting technique of 'stick figure', the most concise brush and ink are used to draw vivid objects, forming a medium and a bond.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Length 280mm x wide 216mm

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
In the picture, we employed the most quintessential Chinese painting technique - "meticulous brushwork." "Gongbi painting" not only embodies the rich traditional Chinese culture but also resonates deeply with the Chinese populace. By integrating the "freehand brushwork" technique, we utilize minimal brushstrokes and ink to depict vibrant subjects, thereby establishing a medium and connection.

CHALLENGE:
We hope that the Chinese people who see the stamps can arouse the identity of national culture in their hearts, and let all nationalities in the world feel that the United Nations Post Office has made infinite efforts for the harmonious coexistence of all nationalities in the world, the future, dreams and stars are no longer far away.
