| DESIGN NAME: Od Ana PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lighting INSPIRATION: The primary conceptual basis of Od Ana consists of simplicity. Not just function, not just form or aesthetic, Od Ana; considering the design and production conditions, is the result of an integrative perspective between conscious preference and renunciation. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Od Ana; it was designed as a light source that can adapt to any interior in which it is positioned, using simple components and techniques. Due to its anthropomorphic structure, the light fixture can be manipulated according to the end user's needs; It can be used as a desk lamp, table lamp, or floor lamp. Od Ana; handcrafted meticulously by skilled artisans is produced exclusively in limited quantity. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The lamp is sent to the end user as assembled. Luminaire and legs are combined with a simple screw and nut technique, friction is increased with the special silicone washer used in the joint area, and it is possible to position the independent legs at desired angles. It has a design approach that balances its functional dynamism with formal serenity. Due to its function, it allows movement and change by increasing the tactile interaction with the user. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2020 and after multiple prototypes and refinements, it was completed in January 2021. All development was done in İstanbul. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Od Ana; handcrafted meticulously by skilled artisans is produced exclusively in limited quantity. Exquisite Spruce Tree was sourced for production. The light box was crafted using a wood spindle moulding technique and the base cylindrical legs were formed using a wood-turning lathe. A water-based varnish was applied to the refined spruce wood yielding a luscious gleam. Artisans expertly shaped the stainless steel forming the metal cage and legs of Od Ana, electrostatic paint was precisely applied to give a final finish. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Od Ana packaging is designed to transform into functional objects you can use endlessly in daily life. The Od Ana outer wooden carry case multifunctions as a storage element. If you can create a comfortable cushion for your seating area utilizing the sponge inside the carry case. Od Ana presents to you a specially designed cushion cover inside the carry case. Using simple techniques that have been used and tested before; Od Ana has taken its final form in search of a new form, function, and aesthetic harmony. CHALLENGE: The main materials of Od Ana are stainless steel and heat-treated beech wood. All parts except electrical components are processed by skilled artisans who do their job diligently. In a society where production is very fast and abundant, designs produced in limited editions with meticulous and careful consideration are already a challenge in itself for economic reasons. Expansion control of metal materials constituting the design technically is provided by fixing the humidity ratios of the workshops where they are produced.
