DESIGN NAME: Szhk Science and Technology Project
PRIMARY FUNCTION: High Rise Office
INSPIRATION: The 250m main building recalls the form and extending gesture of the Chinese parasol tree whilst also responding to the urban texture. The metaphor reflects on the concept of hospitality embracing talents around the world, and signaling shared prosperity between this two cities. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The design is tend to maximize the use of natural ventilation system to minimize use of air conditioning and also enhance outdoor and indoor space comfort, the perforated aluminum board use on the tower’s façade helps the reduction of co2 emission. And use roofing materials with high SRT values to reflect solar radiation to minimize urban heat island effect. The green podium’s roof improves the performance of roof insulation, effectively reduce the heat gain through the roof for the top floor. The energy saving effect is particularly significant in cold climate.
Additionally, in the podium façade, use daylight through glazed façade and skylight to minimize use of artificial lighting, and vertical fins effectively reduce solar heat gain through the façade to reduce cooling load and energy use. In the building roof, the rooftop solar hot water system is installed for apartments to generate hot water for bathroom to reduce electricity or gas use.
