| DESIGN NAME: Blings PRIMARY FUNCTION: Art Installation INSPIRATION: The Avenue of Stars hanging over the sea is like the Milky Way in the vast universe. Blings is the main installation of project assemble the stars in the universe, Xiamen is an island in the sea, the installation site was once a fishing village in the history, surrounded by rocks. The Blings inherited the historical memory of the piece of land. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Like the Walk of Fame in Los Angeles of the US, the Xiamen Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Coast was built for the event of China Golden Rooster Film Festival, which mainly features Blings. The installation is set against the backdrop of the sea, with the bridge floor as the base, composed of 15 stainless steel Blings based on local crude stones as the prototype, which represents completeness as the full moon. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: With a maximum height of 2.3m of the Blings, while ensuring safety, the public can have a close view and lean against the Blings for an intimate interaction. The palm prints of film stars are engraved on surface of Blings. In every upcoming film festival, stars and artists from home and abroad will leave their palm prints here. This permanent installation will witness the passage of time. Lamps are placed in the hollowed stones to add radiance with the floor-lamps outside, just like stars and dots in the universe. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: 316L anti-corrosion stainless steel is tinted and polished repeatedly to form a strong contrast of texture ultimately, which not only reflects the texture of stone itself, but also shows the spirit of artistic creation. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: It occupies an area of 11,000 sqm, with a total length of 660m, a maximum width of about 32 m and a minimum width of about 10 m, and a maximum height at 2.6m. However brilliant a star may be, it will perish in the end. Emptiness is the essence of all things. Therefore, Blings are hollowed out, representing a profound implication of the emptiness of all things. This is also the universe outlook on heaven, earth and human to be expressed by the works. CHALLENGE: Uncertainty about whether it will be accepted by the public in the initial stage of conception. The harmony and unity in dimensions between the commemorative works and the comfort of involvement for people. The brilliance of Blings is manifested with the material of stainless steel, achieving a perfect unity between material and content.
