| DESIGN NAME: Bannou PRIMARY FUNCTION: Raincoat INSPIRATION: The two conditions for wearing a raincoat are 1) It is raining and 2) You have a raincoat at that time, but since 2) You have a raincoat at that time cannot be satisfied, we thought there would be few opportunities to wear a raincoat. Therefore, we thought if we could wear it on usually without getting steamed up, it would be convenient when it comes time to wear a raincoat. An outdoor jacket would satisfy the requirement, but there are not many stylish and formal types on the market. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The name of the coat "Bannou" means versatility in Japanese. The concept of "a raincoat to be worn on a 'Harenohi' OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Water pressure resistance & moisture-wicking fabric, Detachable hood, waterproof seals, waterproof zippers PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Development period:October 2020-June 2021 Launch:July 2021 FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Fashion, Apparel and Garment Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Our goal was to create this coat that could be worn over a suit as a normal coat (not recognizable as a raincoat). Therefore, we chose a fabric with high moisture permeability (8,000g/m2/24hr) and water pressure resistance (20,000mm), while focusing on the texture of the material. The zipper is a concealed type, and the hood is removable for formal use. To prevent the zipper from being seen, the front portion and the joint with the hood are ingeniously designed. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Size:M,L,XL / Color:Black,Navy,Bei TAGS: Coat, Raincoat, Macintosh, Balmacaan Coat, Waterproof Coat RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We have confirmed there are several raincoats on the market with a similar concept, but they have visible zippers (or were never intended to be hidden in the first place), the hood is not removable, and the texture of the material is very nylon-like, which we feel does not completely hide the fact that it is a raincoat we feel they do not completely hide the fact that it is a raincoat. This item differs from these in that the material texture, silhouette, and details (such as the zipper being concealed) are carefully selected to make it look like an ordinary coat from the outside. CHALLENGE: The structure of the detachable hood is designed to hide the zipper at the joint of the hood. The thickness of the overlapping fabrics made sewing difficult, and the structure was changed many times before reaching the present structure. By making the hood detachable, it can be worn on formal occasions, and by completely concealing the zipper at the joint, it can be worn with the collar up. The zipper would look casual if it were visible. We have made it so that the zipper is not visible even when worn unbuttoned.
