| DESIGN NAME: AD House PRIMARY FUNCTION: Single Family Residence INSPIRATION: The main inspiration for this house was the surrounding landscape, since the site is located on the highest part of the location. One of the design principles was to use this so the residents could have the best views available in the region. The house is integrated with nature and its surroundings using light materials and transparencies. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The projects consists of a 495 sqm of constructed space. Located in Teresina, Brazil, a very warm region, the house protects its residents of the heat integrating green spaces within the house. The grounf floors consists of a kitchen, garage, living and dining rooms, patio and other dependencies. The first floor is the privative space where is located the bedrooms. The rooftop consists of a communal space where residents can gather and relax. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The house blends in the landscape which is achieved using lots of green space and glass along the facade. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The walls were made using ceramic bricks, the structure was made using concrete and the roof was made using thermo-acoustic aluminum tiles. The brise soleils were made using a japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban which consist of burning wood to better preserve it. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The house is located on a 33m x 33m x 38m x 13m site. It has 495 sqm of constructed space on a 814sqm site TAGS: residence, house, brazil, residential, architecture, design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The entire house was designed by Flavio Franco. The design process took about one month to complete. The architect wanted to design a house that incorporate a lot of green spaces and it has a swimming pool floating above the ground floor. The finished result is a house that blends in the landscape and it looks very light. CHALLENGE: The structure of the house was the most complicated part, since there is a swimming pool on the second floor which can be viewed from the ground floor. The entire house is constructed on concrete pillars. Charred wood was also used by design choice since it can preserve wood for a very long period. NAME: Studio Flavio Franco PROFILE: Studio Flávio Franco was founded by the architect Flávio Franco. It operates on the market since 2000 as a conceptual practice office of architecture in Teresina, Brazil. The studio is responsible for several residential, retail, and interior design works. Straight lines and modern traits are the main compositional characteristics of the projects, with the predominant use of natural elements such as stone and wood. The studio also works with exclusive furniture design signed by the architect Flávio Franco, giving exclusivity and customization to projects. With a vast catalog of creations, Studio Flávio Franco has won international awards and participated in major exhibitions in Brazil and the world stage. |
