DESIGN NAME: Stadium SC Freiburg
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Wayfinding System
INSPIRATION: The aim of the new wayfinding system is to achieve a harmonious overall concept of architecture and the signagesystem. The wayfinding system picks up on existing designs / the color scheme of SC Freiburg's corporate design. Grotesk typeface "Trade Gothic" (sans serif) is distinguished by its narrow run and at the same time good legibility. A hierarchy that captures and structures the information facilitated was created.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The goal was to create a system with its own identity and originality that goes beyond. The structure of the new stadium of SC Freiburg consists of an orthogonal basic form and an orthogonal roof. The guiding principle of the architectural design, to create an identity-forming structure, must be supported. The new wayfinding and orientation system therefore presents itself with a clear language of form.
It welcomes and informs visitors and fans already in the outdoor area (parking, busstop, tram), leads them to the entrances and in the stadium via the promenade to the seats.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: the wayfinding system works simply, safely, quickly and intuitively. It not only guides and accompanies the fans, but also makes the space tangible and thus creates identification and identity.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design process stated in febuary 2020 and the official opening/the first football game was in summer 2021
