DESIGN NAME: Citystars Heliopolis
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Retail Architecture
INSPIRATION: The design language is biophilic, sinuous, comfortable and relaxing. Papyrus, lotus and water plant architectural forms are interpreted into supersized experiential features and way-finding markers. Huge shade structures, a show lake, trees and planting provide essential cooling. The mall interiors comprise 4 spectacular atriums; Orion, Eclipse, Solaris, and Starport – conveying a Galaxy of Life theme, with soft curved edges, light, creamy stone finishes, and charismatic lighting.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Citystars Heliopolis mall is the first integrated mixed-use development in Egypt, opened in 2004. The complex is currently under renovation with a focused GFA area of 250,000 sq.m. The scope included a completely integrated approach to architecture, interiors, lighting, wayfinding, landscape, and sustainability. With 8 levels spread across a city block, the new Citystars celebrates the fluidity of the Nile using a dramatic form and state-of-the-art materiality and technology.
