DESIGN NAME: Type Specimen Alskar
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Typeface
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for the typeface was to design a character set with a contemporary feel with a strong aesthetic feel of the Brutalist movement. The idea was to develop a versatile font that would give the right visual consistencies to brand ranging from high fashion to artistic communications
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Alskar sans is an elegant contemporary wide sans serif typeface with strong stylistic geometric authentic contrasts, drawing on the aesthetics and representing the shifting contemporary aesthetics. The type specimen was printed as a newspaper A2 (folded and sent as A$) and presents the type face with a modern feel and experience.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The specimen was sent to existing and potential design customers.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The type face was developed from September 2021 and release January 2022.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The final specimen was printed on newspaper stock in CMYK
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The project was designed in A2 spreads, folded to A4

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We researched the Brutalist movement in both architectural and visual arts.
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to interpret mainly an architectural movements and design a typeface that would visually feel correct within that genre.
