| DESIGN NAME: Zhanjiang Yun Hai No.1 Plaza PRIMARY FUNCTION: Commercial Mixed Use INSPIRATION: The design draws inspiration from the motion of a koi fish leaping through a dragon gate, allegorising it to the pioneering spirit and upward development of the area. The design is informed by Zhanjiang’s southeast monsoon climate and the daylight conditions to arrive at a parallel layout. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project is perched in the intersection of the three major urban areas, and closely connected to the city centre via the Zhanjiang Bay Bridge across the waterways. Zhanjiang Yunhai No. 1 Plaza is designed as an all-weather tourism and leisure resort, whose 266 meters tower will become the tallest building in the area. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Large area of green roof and sky garden to reduce cooling load for top. Optimize the design through CFD, solar heat gain, shading and daylight simulations. Enhance the quantity and quality of the outdoor activity space through design excellence. Design to maximize potential for cross ventilation to minimize use of air conditioning and enhance outdoor and indoor space comfort.
