| DESIGN NAME: iFog PRIMARY FUNCTION: Anti Theft Fog Device INSPIRATION: The design follows the rule "form follows function" as it is developed for the product to have a minimal and clean aestethics this allows it to be installed in various environments. Ease of use has also been a key component for this design with easy access for the user to replace the fog bag but at the same time to be secure to any tampering with its critical components. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: iFog is able to create in a few seconds a real wall of non-toxic fog that makes impossible to see and move around the room in which it has deployed thus preventig robberys and thefts. The design has been developed in order for it to blend as much as possible with various environments in which it could installed and also for an ease of use and maintenance. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: iFog can be installed in any closed environment, and is connected to a security system and works as an alarm would work. When an intrusion is detected it triggers creating a thick fog that makes impossible for the intruder to see anything and prevents any theft. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: all the exterior aesthetic components are realized in injection moulded ABS plastic. The inside "frame" and boiler case are realized in injection moulded PA 6 GF30 plastic. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Length x Width x Height (LxWxH): 210 x 260 x 350 TAGS: iFog, Anti theft, fog, minimal, white RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design objective was to make the device modern and with a clean aesthetic. Its purpouse as an anti theft device is not to be the centerpiece of any enviroment but to blend in and complement it. We looked at other devices whose application requires this kind of funcitonality, as well as modern interior design environments. The result is a clean design, with a geometric shape, monochromatic and with functional elements blended with the design. CHALLENGE: the hardest part was to realize a minimal aesthetic without it being too simple and boring. Another challenging aspect was to maintain the intial idea from the first sketches without compromising functionality and without driving up the costs of production. They developed the iFog anti-theft device, a self installing fog generator that provides protection against theft intrusions by flooding the room with thick fog that makes it impossible to see. |
