DESIGN NAME: Brisk Mini
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Air Purifier
INSPIRATION: Air purifiers can only be placed in the corner of the house and require a long time to clean the overall space. This is both energy-wasting and time-consuming, especially in an environment that is relatively large or having many compartments. To improve this situation and considered the user scenario in compact apartments, the designer focused on the goal of improving user experience and air cleaning ability. Following the goal, the team has created a mobile cleaning machine – Brisk Mini.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The air purifier with artificial intelligence, having the ability to walk, judge, and adjust fan speed intelligently in the spaces at home. The intelligent mobile platform is the most significant difference between Brisk Mini and other similar products. Besides, in a larger environment, Brisk will clean the area near humans first.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The interface with intuitive function buttons and the LED auxiliary light allows the user to operate and grasp the status of the machine, including moving patterns, fan speed, and air quality. A light instruction panel on the back can remind users of the time to change filters.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in May 2021 and will be finished in July 2022 in Taiwan.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: There are multiple sensors for the purpose of smoother motion, human detecting, obstacle avoiding, and cleaning route planning. It can also switch mode by detecting the brightness in the room to be quiet and dark enough for you to sleep near it. Also, a light instruction panel on the back can remind users of the time to change filters.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The design team worked hard to make a user-oriented product by investigating deeply into the user habits and existing behavior patterns. Using the image thinking method, mind map, and empathy map, the team formulate more accurate needs and conditions. Then, combined scenario and observation to plan a more overall analysis of the product for the Asia market. In the designing process, the team avoids falling into subjective thinking, closely follows the user-centric design thinking to create humanized house appliances. Last but not least, the design also took the consideration of protecting our environment to have fully recyclable filters.
CHALLENGE: Keep the product simple but not simpler. The design team tried the best to build an intuitive user interface for a product having complex information from human-machine interaction.
Most business strategy for making a product is to have the more values and functionalities the better. However, the increased requirements made the design more complex and sometimes weaken the product performance. This often elevates the difficulty of operating the product and causes confusion to the customers.
