DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Silky

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Bracelet

INSPIRATION:
When it comes to math, I love the idea that simplicity and complexity always coexist at the same time. This simultaneity is what I'm trying to reappear through the jewelry design, simple as it may look like, yet contains so many details aside.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
A hidden clasp of bracelet was designed to echo with the minimalism of the overall look. The extremely fine lines were hand carved meticulously on the surface to add more details and create a unique silky texture.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
the bracelet is movable on every part, designed to fit your wrist perfectly, it is minimalism. All parts are specially designed within very tiny space but still hard enough. The joint and the invisible clasp is amazing, it is small in size, with a button on the side ,it can easily wear and wear off.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
the project started in March 2020 in Shenzhen China, and finised in May 2021 in Shenzhen China.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
I firstly made the model by hand and then with the mold using CNC machine cut the 18K gold lines precisely, and soldering them together with a little routatible part I called it a little gornade, that can make the bracelet moveble, while still stedy enough for use. I invented a clasp that is 1.5mm the size with strings inside and with a secure system that customers will never lose but also easy to wear. For textile I use traditional florance engraving technic, every 1mm contains 12 straight lines purely hand engraved.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
every bar is 1.5mm*1.5mm*18mm. total length is 16cm. clasp registered for utility model patent.

TAGS:
bracelet, minimalism, engraving, clasp, simpilicity, diamond, gold, 18ct

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
We did research from the watch, jewelry industry, architecture design, We look into strap of watch and asked experts in the jewelry field. Also we look up on internet forms. For the connecting, we did several experiments, using a bearing but much smaller. For clasp, we made 4 models. Made improvements in size and in function. Made it impossible to loose and easy to use. On Xiaohongshu (a similar app like ins, Pinterest in China) we published the process in video and had more than 4500 likes.

CHALLENGE:
the challenge of this piece is the movement parts and clasp. research was done such as architecture, watch making, industrial design. The piece has all spare parts must be hidden inside the structure of the body, and also gain strength. Normally these kind of design is not movable, and the clasps are big. So we tried 4 models to come up with the final piece, and the result is combined with simplicity and toughness and easy to wear.
