| DESIGN NAME: Crowd Gathering of Dots PRIMARY FUNCTION: Installation Art INSPIRATION: A journey is a rhythm of life, which to some extent must be suspended from the reality of life, just like a migrating bird that changes with the seasons. A hotel is the stopping place of the trip, just like the warm south where the migrating bird resides. Lake Shore Hotel in Tainan, where the local customs are friendly and mild, is the station that makes travelers feel a sense of belonging. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This work aims to express the flow and spatial tension between the cells of the group, using the black glazed cells on the handmade ceramic spheres to translate the difference, but different tourists who come to the hotel for the warmth of their stay. With the handmade made bronze and gold delicate feet holding up the ceramic sphere, the light projection presents a rich and three dimensional light and shadow changes. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: By pre-planning the walls, we are able to control the layout of the whole picture and the right proportion of the units. To control the ceramics balls producing in the same shape and glaze color, but this is also a fascinating aspect of handcraft. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This installation art piece, Crowd gathering of dots, is full of strong emotions and strength, it creates a natural and beautiful visual experience for travelers. No matter what the purpose of the traveler is, they can find their spot here in this hotel. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 100 square meters surface TAGS: art installation, hotel lobby, ceremic, balls, wall art RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Lake Shore Hotel is located in Tainan, a friendly city with a rich history, heritage and culture. We choose to make the ceramic balls by hand, because handmade, so every point is different and organic. Because it is made by hand, the production outcome is with its own characters. The surface is covered with a glossy black glaze, reflecting each visitor own look. CHALLENGE: As we are also interior designers and relative experience in dealing with this art installation on marble walls, we understand its rigidity and the fixation mechanism behind the walls. We were able to design a point-to-point space, while at the same time presenting our ideal image of the visitor.
