| DESIGN NAME: Eli PRIMARY FUNCTION: Functional Pour-over Coffee Maker INSPIRATION: I'm a classic coffee drinker. I'm always thinking about how I can make a perfect taste of coffee for myself. Through the research, I found it has to be the pour-over coffee. But most of the pour-over coffee makers in the market are only focus on functionality rather than usability. It is hard for beginners to make a perfect pour-over coffee because they have to learn and master many pour-over coffee brewing techniques. So I thought if I can find a new approach for the pour-over coffee maker UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Eli is a transformable, compact, and automatic pour-over coffee maker design for those who need perfect taste coffee to meet their daily addiction wherever. It is a portable, organized, and private coffee-making kit that users can conveniently enjoy the coffee-making process from coffee grinding to brewing finish. A minimalist approach to the conventional coffee maker, Eli focuses on aesthetics, usability, and enhancing the overall coffee brewing experience. Because of the smooth and stable rotating axis structure, the coffee-making process can be simply divided into three phases: Material preparation, Brewing setup, and Coffee brewing. The new form and structure allow users to carry and set the coffee maker on the table quickly. Eli combines the classic pour-over coffee brewing techniques with the latest technology. Thanks to the automatic rotating water nozzle. The coffee ground can be evenly coated with water and allowing the coffee ground to bloom perfectly. Enjoying perfect taste coffee anywhere, anytime. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The coffee-making process is divided into material preparation, the Brewing setup, and coffee brewing. In the first phase, users need to boiling the water and grinding coffee beans. Once the material is ready, users can do brewing setup, sliding and lifting the structure, and then rotating to lock the base. The final step is Coffee brewing. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: For production, the overall body would use recyclable plastic for injection molding. Boiling water with the electromagnetic heating pad and Blooming the coffee ground with the stainless steel rotating water nozzle. The material include: Recyclable plastic, semi-transparent plastic, rubber, stainless steel. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Coffee maker in case 170mm by 70mm by 90mm Coffee maker setup 170mm by 70mm by 170mm TAGS: Coffee maker, Pour-over, Portability, Automatic, Organized, Usability, Compact RESEARCH ABSTRACT: 1.So many different tools and utensils need to be organized and used in the traditional pour-over coffee-making process. These tools and utensils are not intuitive and instructive enough for beginners to make pour-over coffee. The storage of the tools and utensils is lacked organization and makes space crowded. 2.Most of the existing pour-over coffee makers are not convenient to carry and set on the table. It has lousy usability for people who live or work in a limited space and want to make a cup of perfect coffee by themselves. 3. For non-professionals, it is hard to make a perfect pour-over coffee by themselves. Because they have to learn and master many brewing techniques, such as evenly coats the coffee ground with water and allowing the coffee ground to bloom perfectly. Based on the pain points, I thought of a new approach that focuses not only on the brewing experience but also on usability. CHALLENGE: Designing a portable pour-over coffee maker that allows users to enjoy the coffee-making process and perfect taste coffee anytime, anywhere.
