DESIGN DETAILS
DESIGN NAME:
Hunger Games

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Installation

INSPIRATION:
The installation, named after the famous writer Suzanne Collins's "The Hunger Games Trilogy", emphasizes the changing world order and the lost world resources. It has been inspired by social issues such as human values, hunger - thirst - food waste, which are lost and changed as a result of unconscious consumption.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The "Hunger Games" installation project is inspired by the problems of today's society such as excessive consumption, food waste, thirst and hunger. The elements that make up the project are avant-garde porcelain plates, glasses and metal cutlery from various countries of the world, suspended from the ceiling and seemingly flying. In order to explain the relationship between existence and non-existence in an ironic language, forms such as spaghetti blown from transparent glass, vegetables and fruits are placed inside porcelain and cutlery. At the focal point of the installation, giant metal cutlery sculptures are exhibited with glass shaped in spaghetti form.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
The "Hunger Games" installation project was specially designed and created by the artist for the Design Week Turkey fair .During the four-day fair, the installation interacted with different sectors and opened the door to new projects. There is a need for artistic touches and aesthetics in many different sectors and projects that make a difference should be created with collaborations.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
"Hunger Games" installation project was exhibited at Design Week Turkey between 16-18 November 2018 in İstanbul / Turkey . After that some part of the project installed to Project 7.8.9 for six months. Finally, it was reinterpreted for the porcelain brand Porland and included in the art work collection.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Fine Arts and Art Installation Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Heirloom porcelain and metal pieces were preferred in the installation project. The glasses used in the arrangement are produced by hot glass blowing and shaping techniques. All parts were drilled one by one with a special drilling technique and hung with the help of metal hanging apparatuses and fishing line. A special wallpaper has been designed to complement the concept and applied to the exhibition area.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
The installation was applied in an area of 6 m2. All parts are individually packaged and fixed in wooden boxes and transferred from Istanbul studio to exhibitionplace by truck. All parts are hung one by one to give the desired movement. The installation took about three days to set up.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
Studies and scientific researches have been conducted on the consumption rate, hunger-thirst issues in the world. Scientific statistics and findings have helped shape the concept phase of the project. Porcelain plates were chosen as the most widely used object to represent various countries of the world and bear the cultural traces of the geography to which it is affiliated.

CHALLENGE:
The most challenging process in the installation of "Hunger Games" is the hanging of 250 separate pieces one by one with the help of a line, rather than setting up the concept and story.
