PRIMARY FUNCTION: House
INSPIRATION: Villa Antioquia was designed under the idea of continuity of the interior and exterior spaces. The extensive cantilever on its facade makes up the architectural element the main elevation fulfilling the function of the entrance threshold of the house.With architectural elements, such as entry lights, native materials, custom construction techniques, leading architectural pieces in the interior, a new contemporary Caribbean style is developed in contradiction to the conventional proposals.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The design concept for Villa Antioquia was developed under the idea of generating interior spaces that allow permeability, both physical and visual, with the exterior areas of the site. Its design is influenced by the conditions of the location, in the use of climatic strategies to opt for natural ventilation, as well as the delight of the landscape and generate transformable spaces.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Native materials of the place, such as natural carved stones combined with wood coverings are combined, large-format marble tiles create a contemporary color palette and textures typical of its tropical Caribbean location.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Villa Antioquia was made in a time of two years from its first presentation to the turnkey. Located in the Yarari tourist development, in Punta Espada Cap Cana, Dominican Republic.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The architectural elements, their coatings and finishes, such as the walls, columns and beams were thought to form part of the final aesthetic of his perspective and spatial appreciation.
The columns were molded using custom formwork that creates a corrugated appearance. This technique creates a play of shadows and patterns that changes throughout the day and allows the architectural element to be translated into constructive honesty, a key piece for the interior design of the project.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Villa Antioquia is a private residence of 1130 square meters of construction in a lot of 2,630 square meters, located in Cap Cana, Punta Cana.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In the seeking to satisfy the need for a summer residence for a family of 4 members, this villa is composed from its arrival by an extensive cantilever on its facade, taking into account the climatic factors of the Caribbean as it is a cyclonic zone, it composes the architectural element the main elevation fulfilling the function of entrance threshold of the villa.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge for the creation of this house was to related Under the regulations of the complex to comply with a 60% percentage as a sloping roof. The architectural solution took place in the development of a flat-fronted lightweight roof enough so that in its first impression, a scale of human view, it simulates a flat roof.
This resulted in the main envelope designed with different light inputs, such as strategic skylights designed for continuous vertical natural light to cover interior areas of the first level.
