| DESIGN NAME: Qingdao Marine Park Exhibition Center PRIMARY FUNCTION: Building INSPIRATION: The black walls and glass mirror each other-one is heavy while the other is light, one black, the other white. This creates a contrasting yet coordinated surface, that is simultaneously integrated with the site. The building resembles the huge waves of Lingshan Bay, at the foot of Mount Dazhu, pounding against the black reef on the shore. It possesses a grand sense of dynamism, representing the"heart of the ocean"within the marine smart park. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Qingdao Metro CRLand International Marine Intelligent Park Exhibition Center is located in Huangdao District, Qingdao. The park occupies about 2 million square meters of land, making it a benchmark and model construction project in the Huangdao marine technology zone.The Exhibition Center is not only a core building of the new district, but is also representative of the image and position of the entire intelligent park, and has unique importance. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The design is concise and minimal, with the "glass box" extending at the Exhibition Center's top devoid of unnecessary facade details. The struts supporting the glass wall are not only structural components but also an indispensable detail of the building's facade. The 100-meter glass box seems to float in the air, with the arrangement of the struts giving it a sense of layering and uniqueness. The unity of form and structure makes the facade minimal, vivid, and unique, clearly presenting the building's internal logic, in a way that is rich with connotation. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The main body of the Exhibition Center features a steel-reinforced concrete structure to meet the stress demands of the long upper layers and the overhang. The outer walls are a double-glazed glass curtain wall. The first floor uses Ukrainian black diamond granite, and the ceiling is made of a honeycombed wire drawing stainless steel plate. Qingdao Metro CRLand International Marine Intelligent Park Exhibition Center respond to the 2800-acre Ocean Smart New City with a simple and powerful design! CHALLENGE: Main roads, metro tracks, and other large-scale urban features form the background of the Exhibition Center. How to put the Exhibition Center in a dialogue with the surrounding city?
