| DESIGN NAME: Beyond 100 Years PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Apartment INSPIRATION: The designer continuously explores the layout of the space, focusing on the interaction between five attributes: light, space, structure, transparency, and texture. These attributes are very similar to the principle proposed by Louis Kahn. Also, the work itself must take root in classical architectures and express through certain means such as the organization of axes or compositions. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main concept of Beyond 100 Years is the pursue of beauty. Beauty includes the beauty of nature, of traditional arts, of culture, and people learn the beauty through five senses. The designer adds in the sixth element, individual, to show the beauty of spirits in traditional Japanese garden. As for the site selection, Asia New Bay Area centers the power of culture, which adds in the power of value to create extraordinary quality. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The concept is to pursue beauty and define individual by its own character, while put the cultural power of the location in consideration, and enrich the work with extraordinary spiritual space value. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: By adding value and characterizing the space, such as the imprint on the corner of the building and the stones that symbolizes luxury, the designer infuses honor and glory into the space. The sidewalk, which is the bridge between inside and outside, is in harmony with the luxurious vibe. The entrance is the purifying area, with water curtain falls down, visitors can purify their mind and find inner peace before walking in. The reception, which is a high-quality space, holds an important position to welcome visitors and lead them inside. Standing in the Asia New Bay Area here in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, Beyond 100 Years defines wonders by its view. Every frame you take from here is a dynamic picture, and pushes architecture as a form of art to the peak. CHALLENGE: The designer committed to refine modern architecture language and rethink the form of art. Beyond 100 years is the reification of this concept, constructing a clear and crucial position, in which the designer must observe and inspect the local culture and climate to capture the essence of this land. NAME: KUOCHENG REAL ESTATE CO., LTD PROFILE: The spirit of Kaohsiung, global vision 40 years ago, Guo Cheng planted the seed in Kaohsiung. Guo Cheng follows the concept in the movie, Field of Dreams, “If you build it, he will come.” The team take on the responsibilities, provide excellent development conditions for keeping the talented locals, promote the formation of creative industries. Being the pioneer in an unknow area isn’t easy. The difficulties have never been less on the way, but Guo Cheng has been keeping their initial intention to repay the city with their works, and taking every step firmly. Looking back on the past, the persistence that is not afraid of taking unknown challenges has become DNA in the blood. After 40-year tempering, Guo Cheng never forget their aims and the land. One foot steps on the dirt and the other foot steps in the ocean. Basking in the sun in southern Taiwan, pursuing dreams, and giving back to the land makes the world focus on Kaohsiung.
