| DESIGN NAME: Chameleon PRIMARY FUNCTION: Door Handle INSPIRATION: Although the door handles seem like a small detail in the space, it is a product that should be used at least 3 times in built environments. Door is an important design element and undoubtedly one of the most important parts of the interiors. The door handle should not operate as a separate part integrated into the door, but as a design element of both the door surface and the interior. Chameleon has emerged in order to turn a product into an element that adds value to interior design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Chameleon as a door handle is not operating as a separate part integrated into the door, but as a design element of both the door surface and the interior space. According to the design of the door surface, the design approach and the style of the interior, as well as the user’s own personal taste, this door handle is identity-based. In a word the door handle design is actually created not by the designer, but by the user. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It present and elementary function of a handle. The overall dimension is adapted to the human motion sequences and ergonomic. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The idea of designing the project Chameleon created in February 2020 in Ankara, Turkey. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The design consists of the main body mounted on the door and the handle formed by 3 separate parts connected to it. These 4 parts are planned to have alternatives with designs consisting of different materials, colors, textures and patterns. Therefore, various door handle combinations can be created by combining pieces in different options such as rose, black glossy and matte materials, wood and leather materials. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Total width 180mm * 55mm * Height from floor to center 110mm. It is planned to offer door handles in different alternatives of color, texture and material that are packaged individually. The user will create various combinations of the different pieces with different design criteria and make their own combinations by selecting and listening their own lifestyles, tastes and places where they are located. TAGS: Door handle, Ergonomics, Innovative design, Creative design, Identity-based design, Furniture accessory RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Chameleon is designed to pave the wave for users to create various combinations of door handle. Giving the user the chance to choose and design will cause them to establish a one-to-one attachment with a home accessory. Users will be able to sign designs in different styles such as stylish, elegant, innovative, traditional, cozy with the combinations they will create by combining different materials, colors, textures and patterns. CHALLENGE: This design represents the point where industrial design meets interior architecture. A product gains value and identity when it integrates not only with its own self but also with the space it is in and its breathing.
