DESIGN NAME:
Cats In The Bag

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Illustration

INSPIRATION:
This project was born from the essential relationship between cats and bags in daily life. It is common to see a cat sleeping in a bag or a plastic bag in daily life with a cat, which is a posterior neck.Cats are said to have always liked small spaces, and it is said that they used to protect themselves from enemies and to rest in small spaces. For cats kept in modern houses, the bag seemed to be used as a single nest for them.Watching them resting in their bags, as if the two had been that way from the beginning. I felt that the relationship was complementary to each other.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
This is a project to bring the presence of cats into everyday life. He drew a simple graphical representation of a cat and a bag, a scene that could exist in everyday life. When you actually look at the work, it looks three-dimensional and therefore attracts your attention in your daily life. The theme of the work is cats with a wide variety of hair, including long-haired, short-haired, and hairless cats. She has also chosen to use bags with different appearances.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
Multiple silkscreened acrylic boards are stacked on top of each other, and paper and cutting sheets are placed at the bottom to create a single painting. Between the acrylic boards, He put them in a special frame. It is made to produce a three-dimensional effect by shifting the viewfinder's perspective from a few millimeters away.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
The project began in Tokyo in April 2016. Solo exhibitions have been held in Tokyo and Hiroshima.

FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY:
Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
He examined what methods are appropriate for fixing digitally painted illustrations to the acrylic plates. A silk-screening technique was employed. We also experimented with a method of creating a three-dimensional effect by layering the acrylic plates. An original picture frame is made to fit two acrylic plates. Materials used: acrylic plate, silk screen, acryl gouache. paper, cutting seat.

SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES:
Height:422mm x Width:422mm x Depth:50mm (including the frame)

TAGS:
cat, bag, illustration, art, silkscreen

RESEARCH ABSTRACT:
The first thing we did was to investigate what types of cats there are. They have different lengths and patterns of hair depending on the type. It also has its own unique pose and big changes in appearance. He have examined those differences in combination with the bag and the way it looks attractive.

CHALLENGE:
When you see a painting in an actual gallery. Which size of exhibit looks the most beautiful? Because of the distance between you and the person viewing your work and the influence of the lighting. Which size of picture is best suited to create He created and considered a variety of sizes. For the display of this piece, there was a need to create the minimalist and simple presence of the illustration, so I He made it a primitive square.
